奥斯卡影帝罗素·克劳继续保持着每年一部力作的节奏。虽然外形已不比2000年的《角斗士》，但沧桑的感觉反而让他现在的作品表现力更强。比如本片中深陷于职业操守、朋友义气之间的报社编辑。本·阿弗莱克则是当今好莱坞色艺双全的代表男星之一。在演惯了英雄好汉之后，本在中中饰演了一位阴险的政客。
