Go in with low expectations and it's an acceptable diversion. I can't speak for people who wanted to see "dreamy" Fox act serious or Rowlands act more serious. I went to enjoy Joanie Jett and did, with Michael McKean adding some levity along the way. ----- When this flick first came out, Fox appeared on a talk show promoting it, claiming to be a rock fan, as he particularly enjoyed James Taylor -- yow. That would be like Jay Leno claiming to be a car buff, his favorite model being the horse. After that I was pleased to find that there is some good rock here. The rest is about the level of Family Ties, ok.

小镇工友、单亲妈妈和学生等人组的根源摇滚业余乐队求生记，中巴贫穷巡演的生活固然写实但讲得拉拉杂杂，歌不好听。本来以为有Spinal Tap的金毛McKean（这团里是贝司手）跟Joan Jett（团队里最想吃职业音乐饭的，眼见跟弟弟的土摇出头难狠心跳槽去了流金乐队）组队已经够出离的了，没想到暖场的巴尔的摩本土gay里gay气的新浪漫团键盘手还有Trent Reznor！最出彩的是虔诚老妈吉娜罗兰兹和女儿Joan的生活和宗教冲突，母亲病榻和解到末尾明知教区牧师是伪君子还是用绝症要女儿承认天堂能再会，这不是要挟嘛，施拉德对于宗教信徒的认识是蛮尖锐的。
