没有刻意的煽情和戏剧性，本着尽量务实的态度梳理了东征期间三个重要阶段，并且深入到了一些值得注意的小细节，比如第三集里Baibars这位打败过蒙古大军却在今天不太受重视的苏丹，对帝国交通基础设施的投入（寻访以色列Lod小镇上那座Baibars’ bridge）。知识性、娱乐性、视觉上都比较平衡的纪录片。尾声部分对十字军历史的反思和对今日世界的观照，短短几句话，其实挺有份量的。
